TradeRisks appointed as Treasury Advisor to Local Authority
TradeRisks Limited has been appointed as Treasury Management Advisor to Derby City Council, following a competitive tendering process for a 2 year contract.
The appointment of TradeRisks as a Treasury Advisor demonstrates TradeRisks continued commitment to offering a greater choice of service providers to the UK local authority sector, and follows TradeRisks’ other recent successes and innovations in the sector. TradeRisks arranged a £150m 40-year CPI-linked public bond issue for Warrington Borough Council – the first direct bond issuance by an English local authority in 10 years and the first sterling bond issue from any sector linked to CPI with a cap and floor. TradeRisks also runs the Public Sector Investment Gateway for Local Authorities and similar entities. The Gateway provides services including an online funding platform to facilitate lending and borrowing amongst users, and custody services, with 15 Local Authorities currently participating.
TradeRisks is also engaged to provide Treasury Advice to over 35 Housing Associations in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. TradeRisks is the leading non-bank bond arranger for UK social infrastructure sponsors, including Housing Associations, Local Authorities and private sector sponsors.
Bryony Harrap, Associate Director at TradeRisks, stated: “Our wide range of activities demonstrates TradeRisks’ commitment to the Local Authority sector. Understanding the key issues facing Local Authorities in the current environment of central government cuts allows us to provide the innovative and creative solutions needed by Local Authorities to make the required cost savings and ease the burden on their resources. This new engagement offers the opportunity for us to further expand in sector and we look forward to working closely with Derby City Council over the next 3 years”.
